CHEEVER PLACE RENOVATION : BROOKLYN NY
3,360 SF : WITH BAXT INGUI ARCHITECTS

THIS 4-STORY BROWNSTONE WAS BUILT IN 1899. IT WAS CONVERTED FROM A THREE-FAMILY DWELLING INTO A SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLING. ON THE SECOND AND THIRD FLOORS THE EXISTING KITCHENS WERE REMOVED AND ON THE GARDEN FLOOR AN EXISTING BATHROOM WAS CHANGED INTO A HALLWAY WITH TWO CLOSETS. THE THREE REMAINING BATHROOMS WERE ALL RENOVATED. A NEW BAY WINDOW WAS INSTALLED IN THE KITCHEN TO CREATE MORE SPACE AND INCREASE ITS EFFICIENCY. THE EXISTING MOLDINGS, STAIRWAY AND WINDOW SHUTTERS WERE ALL REFURBISHED OR REPLACED. THE PLASTER CROWN MOLDING ON THE PARLOR FLOOR WAS REPLICATED TO FILL IN WHERE IT WAS MISSING. THE BEARING WALL ON THE SECOND FLOOR WAS OPENED UP TO CREATE A LARGE CASED OPENING FOR THE CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA. CLERESTORY WINDOWS FROM THE CHILDREN’S BEDROOMS ON EITHER SIDE LOOK INTO IT. A NEW LAUNDRY ROOM WAS  ADDED TO THE SECOND FLOOR. CUSTOM MILLWORK PIECES WERE INSTALLED THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE. THE EXISTING RADIATORS AND RISERS WERE REMOVED TO ALLOW FOR CENTRAL HEATING AND COOLING TO BE INSTALLED. A NEW SKYLIGHT AND ROOF HATCH WERE INSTALLED TO REPLACE THE EXISTING AND THE FIRE ESCAPE WAS REMOVED TO SIMPLIFY THE FRONT FACADE.
